Looking Up (Rooftop #1, Outside) 08.26.10

I stepped onto the roof and took this picture of the open sky.

Moments before, I had been standing in the foyer holding my camera, gazing up at the skylight. But that image didn’t interest me as much. I decided to bypass the skylight and go upstairs to see the light itself.

The traffic from the intersection below sounded very loud.  Currents of vulnerability and self consciousness began to flow inside me.

But it felt good to be outside. There was not even a trace of clouds. I remember thinking, “This is the genuine sky.”
