Getting to the Heart of the Matter.

I had a vision last night. In it, Bill Flynn, Amtrak’s new president, was asked to testify before a Congressional committee considering Amtrak’s recent request for a grant of $1.475 billion. 

In my dream, this was the first question he was asked:

“Mr. Flynn, you’ve asked this Congress for a grant of almost a billion and a half dollars. But on October 1st, you’re going to eliminate 88 trains a week, and every one of those trains is the only affordable public transportation available for many millions of Americans in more than 40 states. Why should we give you that money?

Damn! That was when I woke up.
