Joe Boardman, R.I.P.
Today, March 7th, brings the unhappy news of the death of former Amtrak president, Joe Boardman, at age 70. Cause of death was a stroke. Joe spoke to our Rail Passengers Association on more than one occasion and was always available and willing to listen to our concerns. Joe was one of the good guys. He will be sorely missed.
There’s no question, this is heartbreaking news. How quickly those valued and respected pass, in this case with no warning whatsoever. The brevity of life! I guess the only good thing is that he did leave us very clear words in these last few months letting us know where he stood – not only us but also those with whom he served and currently sit in what was his chair.
