Hau’oli La Ho’omaika’i. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

This holiday is pretty much the same in Hawaii as it is where you are. Many people here cook their Thanksgiving turkey in an imu, in an underground oven the same way the pigs are cooked for the traditional Hawaiian luau.

Side dishes are more than likely to be sweet potatoes, taro leaves (cooked like spinach) and, of course, poi. It is, in fact, a luau, but with the turkey as the star instead of the pig. Trust me: it’s delicious!

My best wishes to everyone for a wonderful holiday.
