What Makes Me Crazy.

I received an email this morning from Major League Baseball . They’re starting to promote the two games to be played in London next June between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. The very first sentence reads as follows:

Baseball is coming back to London, and this time its personal

There are two very fundamental errors in that headline: (1) the next-to-last word should be it’s, with an apostrophe, and (2) there is no period at the end of the sentence.

That bugs the hell out of me.

My wife says “Get a life!”

  1. And there should be a comma after “says.”

This kind of thing drives me nuts as well, but, then, we had the same mother.

  2. I laughed. I hear you Jim! In the school system I grew up in at Haddon Heights New Jersey all that ground was covered well. When I see the way things are spelled these days, puntuation, contractions (or lack thereof) I find myself cringing as well, plus wondering what the schools are teaching. Also it seems most school systems don’t even teach kids how to write anymore – only print! The Post Office must have to weed through their interviews! I do realize though that a good portion of mis-spellings and the like are from folks using their keyboard very fast.
