OOOPS! Can You Top This PR Nightmare?

This past Friday, a new commuter rail line was inaugurated in Costa Rica by Incofer, the country’s national railroad. The new service will run between Heredia and the capital, San Jose. On board was an assortment of dignitaries, including the country’s president, Oscar Arias. Plus, as luck would have it, a flock of reporters and photographers. And the train derailed!

It was very minor and fortunately no one was hurt. But it happened less than a hundred feet from a bridge over the Virilla River.

Wow! You’d better believe that somebody got sent off to … to … to wherever you get sent when they no longer want you around in Costa Rica.

  1. Funny… well, not really, but I remember when Bill Gates introduced Windows 98, lessee, about ten years ago, at COMDEX and the first thing he got was a Blue Screen of Death in front of hundreds of onlookers.
