Newspapers … And Their Readership.

The media has come in for a lot of abuse recently, some justified, most of it not. You may have already seen the following list, but it’s funny, it’s timely, and there are more than a few grains of truth to it . . . and recent events make it relevant and worth posting.

The Wall Street Journal is read by people who run the country.
 
The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.
 
The New York Times is read by people who think they should be running the country, except it would take too much time away from the Crossword Puzzles.
 
USA Today is read by people who think they could probably run the country, but are reluctant to try because they don’t understand the stories in The New York Times.
 
The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country.
 
The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn’t mind running the country, if they could find the time and if they didn’t have to leave Southern California.
 
The New York Daily News is read by people who aren’t sure who’s running the country and don’t really care as long as they can get a seat on the subway.
 
The New York Post is read by people who don’t care who is running the country as long as they also get caught doing something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.
 
The Chicago Tribune is read by people in prison who used to run the State of Illinois and would like to again, as would their constituents, who are currently free on bail.
 
The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country, but who need to get the baseball scores.
 
The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren’t sure who’s running the country, but it’s OK if they’re gay, handicapped, minority, feminist or atheists, as long as they’re not Republicans.
