Off Again by Amtrak. Next Post from Seattle.

My 7-year-old granddaughter gets her first overnight train ride today. We’re leaving from Los Angeles this morning on the Coast Starlight and will arrive in Seattle tomorrow evening. I am unashamed to admit this is my favorite of all Amtrak’s long-distance trains … 

… and it’s the Pacific Parlour Car that makes the difference. It is, quite simply, a wonderful way to travel. 

I wonder: the train leaves Los Angeles at 10:10 and it’ll be 10:30 or so by the time we get settled in the Parlour Car. Is that too late in the morning to start the ride up to Seattle with a Bloody Mary?
